automatic device lock

Hello. I have a question. I am set to auto-lock out of activity on Forerunner 955 non solar. What was my surprise today during parkrun, when at the starting line during the run, I could not start the watch because it was blocked. In 945, this problem did not occur. The watch would no longer lock up after activating the activity and waiting to start. I have a watch from yesterday, can you change it anywhere? I like the automatic device lock, but the way it works, it makes no sense to me.

  • The possible settings for auto lock are: Off / Always / During Activity / Not During Activity.

    It's in System, Auto Lock.

You probably want "Not During Activity".

  • Even “Not During activity” will lock the activity start screen. I verified on a 935 and 745 that this didn’t happen on the older firmware. The auto-lock would be disabled as soon as we opened an activity. In the 955’s firmware’s the watch will auto lock on the screen waiting to start the activity. That’s a regression in UX

  • Will Garmin revert to this good feature? After changing from 945, I feel annoyed, because after 5 seconds I have to unlock the device and then press start. You may miss the start at the competition :(
