Watch disconnects when using Bluetooth headphones on a phone call

Weird bug happening. The watch constantly connects/disconnects from my phone when I am on a phone call with Bluetooth headphones. Listening to music or anything else is fine, but on a call it's a constant connect/disconnect. Running on Android 12 Samsung s22 ultra

  • I am having the same issue with my 955. I have a Samsung S21 Ultra. Bose Earbuds did great on an interval training once, then tried on a 17 mile run and another interval training a few weeks after. The buds worked for no more then half a mile and would show connected but not play the music.

Also, I am constantly being notified of "Connected" meaning the watch is disconnecting Bluetooth to phone often. Seems to be a bluetooth issue with Forerunner 955 overall being this is occurring with Phones and earbuds.

  • My iPhone 11 Pro has the same experience. Indicates that there’s a connection even after the sound cuts out halfway through my run. Not a very good experience at all!

  • Brand new 955 today, connected then when trying to play music it disconnects

  • This is unfortunately still present in 13.21, using Airpod pro v1 with Pixel 4a5g/Pixel 7. The constant connect/disconnect means I need to turn off bluetooth on the watch. do you need any additional info to reproduce?

  • I have also connection issues with a Garmin Vivoactive 3 watch while using a Bose 700 Headphone on a Google Pixel 4a.

These apps are insalled on phone : Garmin Connect, Connect IQ, Bose Music

  • Watch disconnects are usually caused by the Garmin Connect app being killed by the battery management system on the phone itself. Some brands are particularly aggressive in this regard.

What might help is to exclude the app from battery management in the system settings. (This varies from phone to phone, so I can't give instructions.)
