Forerunner 955 Reboot

I have decided to replace my old Fenix 5X with a new unit and I choose the 955. I enjoy the new device but it has quite an ugly bug: once you used the maps a few times the device will reboot when pressing any buttons. I found a few messages on the board advising to reset the watch. I have not done so since I have spent a considerable amount of time configuring it the way I want. I am on firmware 10.10. No update for 11 for me yet. I might have found a quick and easy fix that worked for me couple of times: all I do when that happens, is to plug the power cord for a few minutes then the watch stops rebooting, and then it goes back to normal function. For now I will leave the maps alone until Garmin guys figure out a fix for it, so I will wait a few firmware updates before I will use the maps again.

  • It maybe related to the lights gesture and button setting after sunset, known bug to cause reboots, mine was fixed when I removed the after sunset settings

  • Btw there is an update on the way to fix this issue

  • i ran into this too, and i also found the solution to stop the endless rebooting was to connect my watch to my computer (which is how i typically charge). i am hoping that the reference in the change log for 11.12, as Mohamed suggests fixes this bug as i too want to use the maps without fear of getting in this loop when i want to be using my watch.

  • My watch is rebooting and continues to after plugged into the computer. I can not reset or have it on long enough to reinstall firmware. Is there like a safe mode boot up for the watch? Any thoughts?
