Anyone have this available?
I think most people here think the same: Garmin should deliver what they promise, but what they deliver is buggy all over.
Don´t feed the 7413611-Troll :-)
He´s just living in his own world and can…
Maybe it is still too buggy to distribute..
And let’s be honest who look at a map when running?
I look at the map when I run ultramarathon in the mountains, like many other runners ;-)
Hey Alex, thanks for being a beta tester for us all. Oh wait, this was not a beta release. Hmm...
Link to download firmware v.11.12 You need to unzip the file and copy it to the Garmin folder in the watch.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THIS. THIS IS UNTESTED UNCERTIFIED FILES, IT COULD CONTAIN VIRUS.
To Igor, I appreciate you did this but this is reckless. People without IT knowledge don't understand the risk of doing this, plz refrain from posting files like this. I'm sure it's safe but this isn't a way of doing thing.
What is the way then? I've seen Connect IQ apps shared for side-loading and some others. Yes, there's always a risk downloading unknown files from unknown sources, but I would guess people know the risks they are taking. I don't think there's so much people trying to sideload or get the firmware beforehand that one would use energy to sneak something evil inside the firmware. Too much trouble for the 2 users and what would be the profit of doing so?
I understand your concerns. I try to avoid unknown or intrusive offers myself. I can say that I have been the owner of the 955 Solar watch for 4 days, the watch is from New York, on the first day I received an update through Garmin Express, I saved it. On other forums where I communicate, this link helped to update the watch to version 11.12 without any problems. Garmin OS is so arranged and protected that you will not be able to put a "virus" there if you are not the developer of this OS.

This is Garmin in a nutshield. The hardware is outstanding, the software is mostly useless. You can order a fenix 7, but you will still be a betatester for the company. I guess this problems are unavoidable when you have a complex device like this. Maybe they would be better off if they changed the set up line , i mean who need all this *** they put into it. Would be better to have watch that actually worked as expected rather than a " one device cover it all" that never going to work as intended.
Agree except that "all functions in one" could never work...
But why Garmin starts developing a new firmware for each new device? Fenix, Forerunner, Tactix, Epix - I thought, these watches have meanwhile identical CPUs, GPS chipsets, etc. (so only specific parts need to be adapted, like for the different display sizes). But why the Fenix and Forerunner firmwares have different menus, different functions and differents bugs then?
The Forerunner has been the most important model for Garmin and is the best watch for me (better GPS and display readability than the Fenix).
Garmin, do the right things now...
• put all software development teams together
• make beta (alpha) versions available
• create a bug reporting platform
• guarantee a minimum firmware update period of two years starting from the first working firmware
• think about using the power of us customers - watchfaces and widgets could go open source or so. I am sure, some hundred programmer would help improving these codes...
If Garmin will not change things soon, customers may tend to buy worse hardware products with more reliable software in the future.
How can you save the update file?
