955 upload to phone bugs - no upload and duplicate upload

I have noticed an intermittent problem with activity uploading to my phone. About every seventh or eighth activity does not upload upon completion. The upload icon in the Connect apt spins but nothing shows up on the phone. I believe this is a device problem because it occurs whether I select bluetooth or wireless upload. The only way I can get the activity to load is by physically connecting the 955 to my computer and using Garmin Express. I created a "dummy" activity after this mornings fail and that uploaded fine via bluetoothbut it did not bring the actual activity with it. I still had to use GE.

- On my own, I rebooted the device and the phone, deleted the Connect App and reinstalled it, deleted and repaired the device to the phone (including in bluetooth settings). No avail.

- I contacted Support and a rep worked with me. She accessed my Connect account and had me create dummy workouts which uploaded fine. I had already manually uploaded the activity in question via GE and I realize now that that session did not fix whatever is going on.

- Related perhaps is the fact that about every 15 or 20th activity "double" loads. I get two identical activities in Connect and have to delete one.

For reference, I use an iPhone 13, HRM PRO (I have the device download and process the HRM data after the activity), a Garmin Running Pod, and a Stryd footpod.

  • Maybe a solution of sorts. I find that the issue exists primarily when I manually download the HR data from my HRM Pro after a workout and before the activity is uploaded to Connect. This seems to block the activity from uploading - or maybe Connect thinks its a duplicate and doesn't upload it? Who knows. On the other hand, the issue of duplicate uploads continues and seems unrelated.

  • Why do you download the HR data manually? What activities are you doing? I only download it if/when watch suggest that and I haven't have any problems with my HRM-Tri.

  • I noticed it in the menu after the activity. I did it more as a curiousity but found that it changed the Performance Metrics - which led me to think that the HR data recorded was partly wrist and partly HRM. (I did have some problems with HRM-Pro Connectivity when I was using the 945). Regardless, I just stopped downloading the HR Data until after I've uploaded the activity.
