My new 955 Solar

I am very happy with my 955 Solar. The gps is very precise and the rest of the metrics seem to be too. But I have a doubt, I haven't used any Garmin device in two months, but I have been training continuously. Now the 955 when I start using it tells me that I am overtraining. I imagine that with time this will be fixed? I understand that it's because I don't have a history of the last few weeks and suddenly see the level of training I have. Has anyone had that experience?   • If you dig into the Training Status widget (from app or phone) it will tell you exactly why it judges you as overtraining, and tell you how to fix it

    It makes the judgement partially on your acute load and VO2 max trend, so without any workout history on the watch you'll likely be considered overtraining. Training Status requires more history before it becomes useful

    Training Readiness will be a better metric in the meantime. It uses more short-term metrics (sleep, past day's workout, stress, etc) that can be actionable sooner 

  • Or well, you know... you might actually be overtraining? How are we supposed to know when you're not supplying any details on your actual training/workouts, or what garmin is actually saying.

    But if you just got it it might need to 'get to know you' a bit better, would expect it to just not show anything yet then instead of already judging...

  • Why so rude? The author only said that he doubts that the watch is right when it calls him overtrained. But he also writes that he suspects that the watch simply doesn't have enough data yet and that it will probably take some time for it to settle down. So there is no reason to attack him like that.

  • Wasn't that bad was it? Anyway, guess I just get annoyed with (too many) questions being asked without context or info required to actually answer it. I usually try to actually help though...

  • It takes about two to three weeks for the watch to adapt to your normal level of activity. Before that it will tell you that you are overtraining.

    For the first four days I had the watch it was saying I was in Recovery, then for one day I was Unproductive, then for 11 days I was Overreaching. I was then seven days Productive and now my status is Maintaining.

    I haven't changed my routine at all in that time.

  • Unfortunately that's entirely true. It may have been true for you but not universally.

    My N=1 has been being productive, maintaining an be other states in line with my training over the first two weeks of having my 955.

    I came from a 945 for informational purposes.

  • Pretty sure that's the exact opposite of reality. Based on what I read on dcrainmaker anyways. Status is accurate before readiness.

  • Do you have a link? Readiness should absolutely be useable before Status. DC even said in his review:

    "Albeit, it’s something that’ll probably sort itself out within a week or two. And at least now I can just ignore it and use Training Readiness instead."

    That's in regard to Status not being accurate because of a new watch that hasn't been used long enough to get accurate VO2 measurements needed for meaningful Training Status

    The stats used in—and the purpose of—Training Status simply need more workout history than Training Readiness. Even if you had a Garmin previously
