Nightly HRV status periodically not recording.

I own a  forerunner 255 non music version which I wear 24/7 and I've noticed in the two weeks I've owned the watch that whilst wearing it at night during sleep, occasionally it fails to record that nights HRV status. So far over that 2 week period there have been 3 occasions when it has failed to record overnight HRV.

Ive had answers from folk over on the 255 forum that is being seen across a few units but is the same behaviours being seen on the 955?

  • I've seen my 955 not record HRV overnight. Not sure why. There have been a few nights where it completely botched sleep tracking and I had to correct the sleep times too (even though the sleep times were correct during the morning report). I've assumed it's teething pains so I haven't paid much attention yet, especially since HRV isn't yet affecting my readiness metric. But I know I've worn it every night so I'm not sure why it dropped a few. Some still have overnight averages despite no HRV chart. So I dunno

  • I have had one night out of 21 that did not record HRV.

  • All-

Thank you for your participation in this forum thread.  So that I may assist you further, please reply with the following:

    1. May we, if necessary, have permission to email you?
    2. May we, if necessary, have permission to view/access your Garmin Connect account?
    3. In what country do you live?
  • 1. Yes

    2. Yes

    3. Sweden

But in my case I guess the watch do record as I can see the 7-day average climbing now, but it does no longer transfer the nightly value to Connect as it did the first few nights, see picture:

  • Interesting. It's not recorded for me the last two nights.

    1. Yes, you can email.

    2. Fine.

    3. UK.

  • Same here, no chart for a couple of nights,

Still have overnight average on 1st page and blue dot on 3rd, despite no HRV chart on the 2nd page

@garmin_2d00_kevin I simply want to know if this is just a visual bug and does not display the nightly result or if the information is just not collected at all, thanks

  • All,

We believe that we have a fix for this report that will be rolling out with the next software release for this device.  While I do not have a timetable for this release, I will be updating this thread as information is made available.  Thank you for your patience while we work toward a resolution for this report.

  • Same thing happened to me last night -- on the watch HRV status page 1/3 I have a "last night average" and my 7D average increased one point ... but page 2/3 has no values, just a notice to wear during sleep to measure HRV. Page 3/3 though shows a blue dot.

However, neither the GC app on my phone nor the GC website reflect anything from last night, and show the older 7D average instead. So, not even the partial information on my 955. I tried synching and connecting through Garmin Express.

First time this has happened in 2 months of constant wear.

  • Also an issue on the 945 LTE.
