Forerunner 955 Golf Activity Profile - Using the Back Button

The golf app does not work! While using the app if you push the back button to see the time the GPS tracking stops when you go back into the golf app.  You must end the round and start a new round in order for the GPS to start working again.  Thus the app is unusable.  Very unfortunate.

Additionally The functionality app is still based upon using physical buttons It has none of the recent updates for touch screen functionality as seen in the venue series.  Hopefully all this is fixed with an update soon...

  • Don't worry, you are not the only one. I have seen this happen as well on my last two rounds and is very frustrating. I have logged this with Garmin Support and ask that they investigate and fix this. Yet to hear anything positive back yet or any acknowledgment that they have an issue.

  • Same issue here.  My watch then froze and during the process of trying to get golf working I went through a phone reset and it now won't connect back to my phone...

  • OK, a further update. Good old Garmin. They sent me an email, said nobody else had reported this incident and they want my watch back so they can assess it and will send me a new watch. Some things never change!

  • OK guys, if you want this issue fixed you need to log it with Garmin support and they will RMA you a new watch. This fixed the problem with mine. It appears to be hardware related and not a software bug.

  • UPDATE - It didn't work time i played so we are back to square one.

  • All-

Thank you for your participation in this forum thread.  So that I may assist you further, please reply with the following:

    1. May we, if necessary, have permission to email you?
    2. May we, if necessary, have permission to view/access your Garmin Connect account?
    3. In what country do you live?
  • I seem to be having the same issue.  Yes you can e-mail and you do have my permission to access my Garmin Connect account.  I live in the USA.

  • I too have a similar issue whenever hitting the back button during a golf activity. This effectively ends the recorded golf activity. A new data screen (very generic - time, distance and pace?) is shown instead of the usual "golf" one when returning to the activity from the clock face. "up" and "down" buttons do nothing, neither does holding down "up" to access settings.

Please, you have my permission to contact me and view my account and activities. Im in Norway. I really hope for help here, as I rely on the watch for distances and recording score during the round, and accidentally hitting "back" now seriously messes up stuff.

    Cheers,

    Trond

  • Same issue with my watch. I'm in Australia. Hoping there is a software fix coming for this and not a hardware issue?

  • All,

Please see our recently released beta software.  We have users reporting that this is fixed in the 12.20 beta software. If you prefer to not install this beta software, we hope to be rolling out a public software update soon, though I do not have a timeline for this release. If you are still seeing this issue after installing the beta software, please contribute your observations in the appropriate beta bug reports section of the beta forums for your specific device.
