Touchscreen don't work with maps

Hi.
I've had the FR955 Solar since the release (been reviewing it). It seems to be a bug that prevents the touchscreen to work when using maps. I thought this was going to be fixed pretty soon, but it's still the same.

Anyone else having this problem? And yes, all the settings are correct.

  • Looks like it is a pretty common things the touchscreen in the FR955 is subpar specially on maps

Regarding the fix you never know, but the pretty soon for garmin usually it is not some days plenty of things in older models only got fixed after months if at all. So bettter be aware it can just stay like this and deal, and just hope we can be surprised if there is actually a fast fix.

  • I stumbled on this post because I was about to write my own post titled "touchscreen doesn't work with maps" haha

Yes I have a 955 solar and the feature is broken.

In my opinion, the main use case for a touch screen is maps. I don't need touch anywhere else on the watch, but on the maps screen (if implemented properly) it would be a *huge* improvement to user experience over the 945.

I hope they fix things, and then I hope they add a setting that lets you turn on touch for *only maps*, a setting that lets you use the touch screen whenever you toggle to the maps screen regardless of what activity mode you are in.

  • What I've understood that if you disable touch during activity it still works with the maps.

  • Oh that would be nice! Hard to test right now because touch screen doesn't seem to be working for me at all in maps (even when I have touch turned on for the activity). But I'm guessing they will patch it soon.

  • Yeah, but not sure here. I might read something like that somewhere, but my 955 is still waiting to be shipped :(

  • I think you need to have touch enabled in general for it to work on the maps screen... (Then you can indeed disable it for the rest of that activity, it will still work on the maps... for me anyway).

Also, maybe you need to long press up for the menu on a maps screen and select zoom/pan/etc. Then you can use touch to pan around, zoom doesn't work with touch.

So yeah,it's hella buggy/unfinished still... but some things do work (and for me panning with touch and zooming with buttons is at least quite perfectly workable)

Oh yeah, and the panning to left (triggering the menu) can be worked around by doing the swipe really slowly... Then the mnu isn't triggered.

And about zoom not sticking, you have to disable autozoom (Settings -> Map), then the zoom level is retained
