Why does my watch drop phone connection when Garmin Connect isn’t open? Yes I have Connect set to run in the background on my phone. Thx

The watch will only pair with my phone when Garmin Connect app is open on my phone. No weather, messages, alerts, or any other data comes through unless the app is open on my phone. I have looked into settings and am allowing “Background App Refresh” “cellular data” “Bluetooth” are all toggled on. My old Garmin Vivoactive4 would stay connected as long as I was in Bluetooth range. It seems weird to have to have the Connect app open on your phone 24/7.

I have the exact same issue - are you using an iPhone?

I ended up doing a factory reset and reinstalling the app and then repairing and it has been good since - fingers crossed it stays that way!
