Anaerobic Efforts not reflected in 955 Training Status Load Focus Screen

Anaerobic Efforts not reflected in 955 Training Status Load Focus Screen, although today’s hybrid track interval training session registered a 2.1 on the Anaerobic Training Effect and a 3.3 Aerobic benefit, there was no change to my Anaerobic Load Status nor to my High Aerobic Load Status, just an increase in Low Aerobic Load Focus.  With the 945, a similar effort workout would show proportionate increases across the three loads.  The Anaerobic Load Status did increase when I ran a race last week with the FR955, where the primary benefit was labeled VO2 Max, but today’s track workout, was a hybrid of warmup miles, intervals and cooldown miles, with a primary benefit of Base.

  • That's odd on both counts, for your session and for your race, unless it was a very short race you shouldn't have been very anaerobic on it, what was there an anaerobic TE ?

  • The event was an interval workout with several strides, see training load and Anaerobic effort below, my Anaerobic fitness should have gone up a few points, see below images, of before and after Load Focus, not normal to not have a change in Anaerobic nor High Aerobic levels.

  • Today, after 2 interval workouts that were classified as primary Training Effect: Tempo, with Anaerobic of 2.0 and 1.1, respectively, my Anaerobic and High Aerobic fitness went up as expected.  First reported issue was related to Training Effect benefit labeled as Base or bug, I’ll add here when or if anaerobic or high aerobic fail to update when primary benefit is Base.  See increase in Anaerobic and High Aerobic from today’ workouts:

  • So, I've seen this same issue on my other devices 945/1030 but only (or at least I only noticed) in regards to High Aerobic.  It seems that no matter how much High Aerobic load a workout contains which in some cases can be a lot..unless that workout is labeled 'Threshold or Tempo' the High Aerobic load will NOT Increase.  For example, a 2 hour cycling activity that contains 45min or more time spent in 'Tempo, Threshold, and or VO2 Max, zones will often be labeled as 'Base" because of other low effort output..which is fine.  But NONE of that High Aerobic effort gets incremented in the 'Load Focus'.  While at the same time....a much shorter percentage of that same workout contains Anaerobic effort....but the Anaerobic Load Focus seems to always increment upwards....and thus it is very common to be perpetually in High Aerobic Shortage.

Would love to know if the 955 has somehow fixed this issue?  Seems like perhaps not.....?

  • Today’s workout was a Base Benefit workout with 3.1 Low Aerobic, no High Aerobic, which is correct, and Low Aerobic Fitness increased as expected, and the Anaerobic of 2.4 was reflected in the overall improvement today.  So, I can feel better about the one time bug I reported earlier, I’ll keep adding here should I discover anything to the contrary.  So far I love my 955.

  • i also have trouble with the recognition of the done workouts but in a different way. i did a interval workout that showed on the watch as anaerobic effort. in connect there are 2 workouts shown what is not wright in the first place.  also the recognition is totaly different.

my guess it has something to do with heartrate settings. i use running and cycling zones.

i would like to use lactate treshold but am not able to set it in the wright way. so now i deleted the run and cycling zones.

also deleting a workout does not remove it from the acute training load.

i also love the watch and the metrics that come with it, but there is still some work to do to make it work.

  • I have the same issue. I assume that if I spend sometime in tempo HR zone I should see the high aerobic training effect higher after the workout. I finished the workout and I can see the same high aerobic training effect as prior to workout. Any tips to investigate this more? Thanks.

  • This is the bug.  You cannot have a workout that goes up in Anaerobic but NOT high aerobic.  You must spend some time in the High Aerobic zone yet the load totals do not increase.  My activities have a large percentage of high aerobic effort but never increase in total load because they get labeled as Base.  The ONLY way to increase Hi Aerobic is to have the activity be labeled 'Tempo' or 'Threshold'.  Which makes no sense.  Each type of load should increase incrementally according to the effort each time.

And no, it doesn't matter what your heart rate zones or power zones are set to.  I see plenty of time in the tempo or threshold zone being recorded...but the load won't increase.

  • You can check out my thead in the 1030 forum.  Basically, unless an activity gets labeled as 'Tempo or Threshold' the High Aerobic will NOT increase.  Even if you spend tons of time in those zones during the workout and can clearly see in the activity data.
