Backlight issues

Get mine today and after a software update backlight stopped working.

Reseting the watch didn't solve the problem. If I turn the watch OFF a couple of minutes then turn it ON, backlight works 1-2 minutes then no longer works.

SW is 10.10.

Is there anything I could try or should I return it?

  • What mode are you talking? The settings has During Activity, General Use, During Sleep. Have you changed the default timeout or brightness settings? Can sometimes be worth changing them to something else and back to what you actually want.

  • For General Use I changed all settings and revert them back to default a couple of times with no luck.

In the meantime the backlight stopped working at all even after turning OFF/ON.

Seems to be a specific problem with my unit and not something related to SW update as nobody experienced something similar.

  • I had a similar issue where I changed the settings for "activity" and "general use" -- "activity" settings stuck, for "general use" the backlight would come on, but wasn't bright. Better than off, but only like 10% better and almost impossible to read. It was like this for hours.

Then, as Timgrose suggested here, I tried changing the "general use" value to something else. Applied that and then back to the level I really wanted and the backlight brightness was what I expected it to be.

Check yours to see if the "activity" backlight setting is what you expect -- if it is, then it's some kind of software bug that requires multiple resets and not a hardware issue if the backlight is working as expected in activity mode.
