Size difference against 245

I am afraid of the size grow between 245 and 955. Does it look much bigger? Could testing F7 dimensions be enough to make a decision?

  • Yeah, it would be similar to compare. It will be massive believe me. I own the 6s Pro which is thicker then the 245 and looks more massive. And even a normal Fenix 7s upgrade was to massive. Also owned a normal Fenix 6 and it was sooo much bigger. The high end 2022 devices got even thicker imo which makes it look even bigger.

Maybe an inbetween with the normal sized 255? I really would go to a store and test it, the 955 looks massive even in videos because of it's thickness. And thickness makes a big difference, even when diameter is the same size.

  • Yeah I found 945 too big so I got the 945LTE and though it was smaller it was thicker! 745 was best size

  • Thickness is probably the reason I'll go for the 255 over the 955. I currently have a F6 Sapphire but it's a bit heavy and I don't use most of its functions. So I don't really need all this in a 9xx series either (e.g. maps). The feel of the watch on my wrist is quite important to me. And on the main things for a runner, the 255 and 955 are basically identical.

  • I agree except I want training readiness which the 255 doesn't have. So I'll keep my 945 LTE it's smaller than 255 and will have it

  • If I had a 945LTE I’d probably do the same. Was quietly hoping this round would have a 955LTE. I’m a bit disappointed.

  • 955 is exactly the same size as the 945 looking at both of mine. I can't tell the difference on the wrist without looking. 245 is a bit smaller yes and I have one of them too but never found the size difference overly notable. All things considered prefer the bigger one.

  • i've owned the 935, 945LTE, and now the 955. the 955 is exactly the same diameter as the 935 too. but i do notice that it is slightly thicker than the 945LTE which itself was thicker than the 935. i don't have to wear dress shirts to work, so the thickness doesn't bother me...yet i do see that 0.5mm in height when i look at the watch on my wrist. (i'm surprised by this but maybe it's just the way they contoured the profile so it makes it appear even thicker)

  • You don't see a very noticable size difference between 245 and 955?

Sorry mate but these are so big that everyone should see a difference. I owned a Fenix 6 and 6s Pro, comparable to those. And it was a huge difference.

To say there was barely a difference to you could mislead people to thinking there is almost no difference. Sorry but this is just not true. Worlds apart in size. Don't led you, the other users, mislead by this post. Maybe this user doesn't care about the difference but it is a big difference for sure. Also in thickness. And thickness alone makes a big diffrence, not even talking about the half centimeter bigger size in height AND width.

  • I said "245 is a bit smaller yes and I have one of them too (for full clarity - a 245M) but never found the size difference (for clarity - to the 955 or 945) overly notable"

So I am stating my opinion based on how they feel for me on my wrists.

This link https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/catalog/product/compareResult.ep?compareProduct=777730&compareProduct=698632&compareProduct=621922&compareProduct=646690 provides the actual dimensions for the 945/945LTE/955/245M as provided by Garmin if you want to study them in more detail.

So yes the 245 is about 4mm smaller in diameter to the 955 and weighs 38.5g to 53g of the 955. So, as I said, the 245 is a "bit smaller"

  • I agree the 955 it a lot bigger than the 245. I noticed the extra thickness of the 945LTE vs the 745 which was only 0.4mm. The 955 is 0.5mm thicker than even the 945LTE so 0.9 thicker than a 745.

4mm bigger is like saying a 50mm Garmin is only a bit bigger than a 46mm when in reality that's a huge.
