Garmin Coach syncing to Edge not Forerunner

I'm trying to set up a running plan on Garmin Coach, but cannot seem to get it to sync with my Forerunner 945. Instead, the plan seems to only want to sync with my Edge 1040. I have the Forerunner set as my Primary Wearable and the 1040 as Primary Training Device, but these don't seem to be changeable. Any thoughts or suggestions welcomed!

    Which plan did you set up? I'm assuming it is a cycling plan since it syncs to the Edge. The cycling plans isn't coach plans so you will not see them in the Garmin Coach glance. If you got a workout planned for today you will get a suggestion to do that workout if you select a bike activity. You can also view the workouts in the training calendar on the watch.

    It was a 5k running plan, which is another confusing thing about why it’s going to my Edge 1040! 
    I can see the coach activities in my calendar on Connect but these are ‘static’ and I can’t send them to my watch, and nor do they sync with my calendar on my watch…

    Which 5k plan? Which coach?

    There is a new coach plan (it is without a named coach) which I believe isn't supported on the 945 since I don't see it. Maybe because you got a newer device (Edge 1040) you got the new plan.

    I've tried a variety! The 'Self-Guided Plans' do sync to my calendar widget (not the Coach widget though). But the custom/adaptive ones (where you can specify your goals etc) don't seem to work at all. Perhaps these are only compatible with newer watches? I can't see anything from Garmin online stating this...

    I'm facing the same problem. I cannot sent the run workout plan (marathon) to my 945 LTE as it is "not compatible". It is kind of strange as Garmin Coach is a standard installed widget on my watch. Same to your 1040, my 840 seems to be compatible.

    Is it the new Garmin Coach or one of the named coaches? The new Garmin Coach is not compatible with 945 and maybe also not 945 LTE.
