Some ideas on breaststroke swimming

Hello all !

I am using a Forerunner 945 smartwatch for tracking open water breaststroke swimming.

For precise GPS tracking, I mount the watch on the back of my swim googles, using a custom-designed 3D printed adapter :

For heart rate measurements, I am using a HRM-Swim strap, which works great. Here's my full gear :

The above system works flawlessly, however I am losing all swim dynamics (stokes, swolf).

I believe that identifying the breaststroke movement while wearing the watch on the head is simple, since it is only

a periodic up-down movement (for every stroke).

However, there's no way to access the raw accelerometric data in order to derive the stroke count myself.

Do you think that is there another way to do this ? Or it's up to Garmin developers to update the software in order to track that type of action ?

My watch contains a lot of those activities but there's no way to take advantage of any data.

Here's my last track, look how precise it is.
