Beloved FR945 died in the shower :(

My beloved 4+ year old FR945 first developed these water leaks around the display that others are reporting.

(At first i thought it was the screen protector ungluing)

And then this past two weeks I couldn't run so I swam more.

My sense is the watch is fine in cold/pool water.

But I would dash out of the water thru colder air and wind into a steaming shower.

The hot shower killed the watch. My screen flickered and then died.

So folks - my rec is keep your aging FR945 far away from the shower, hot water, steam, sauna, and such.

As for Garmin, all they did was offer to swap my dead FR945 for a refurbished FR945 for $140 (+tax?).

Personally I think it's lame they won't offer $100-200 discount on a new watch. But they don't. Not to me at least.

I'll probably just wait for a full price coupon from some vendor.

Meanwhile it's actually quite liberating to do activities with no watch at all, or with a 15 year old no-brand watch that is still water proof, hot showers and all.

Ah, Garmin Garmin.
