can I reset my training status and VO2 max? Fenix 6

Three years ago I was an extremely fit endurance runner, had been for +20 years, my Garmin was always very happy with my stats and the feeling was mutual. Then I tore my hamstring and, long story, ended up having surgery and have spent the past 18 months rebuilding my fitness and the strength of my repairing tendon. In the process I replaced my Fenix 5 with a Fenix 6, and because it never knew me as a proper runner, it has decided that I'm a 5-8km plodder that should only be running every 2nd or 3rd day! If I ignore it and run, say, 5 times a week it warns me I'm overtraining and that my training is unproductive. It often recommends I should rest for 56 hours! How, pray tell me, do I reset this damn device so that it can stop nagging me that I'm being unproductive???

  • You can't reset training status. Unproductive means "Your training load is at a good level, but your fitness is decreasing.". It basically means that your VO2 max is going down but your load is good. When you reach your correct VO2 max you will get into another state.

Check your max heart rate and make sure it is set high enough. If the watch thinks you are reaching very high heart rates it will think you are training very hard and order more rest.

You can pause your training status during build up. Then it will not nag you.
