GPS Inaccuracy? Tough luck.

I personally think Garmin with latest update ruina intentionally the watch and makes it not fuctional. I have addressed this issue on mobile phones another smartwatches android tv etc. Everything was working fine just before latest update.

Fishbird, we would never intentionally release updates to cause the watch to malfunction or downgrade in performance. I'm sorry to hear that you are now having issues, and I ask that you reach out to Product Support directly.

Garmin-Sierra i think there are plenty of examples of this tactic some famous companies do such as Samsung Apple on older phones to assist you further purchasr the new one which is better etc.

I have 2 friends with Garmin 945 one with 11.60 firmware and one with 12.30 i think i really adviced them basic i strongly reccommended them to not further do the update to the latest one because i am on version 13.00 which is the latest one and have many problems such as sudden restarting during activities restart when change settings on activity profiles could not connect headphones and get to re-pair again every time even on phone phone connected message after 2 minutes and many othet bugs which my 2 friends have not!

I tried soft hard reset a d still got problems on Gps during activities connection etc.

I own the 945 from year 2020 and got it with version 9.80 every update maybe we get advanced festures but it is not repiable from day 1.

Same happens with my adroid phone Tv etc better never update firmwares

Sorry for being such a pathetic but i found it the hard way. I also own a smartwatch for daily use and regretting updating this also in 6 months period just for today when i was running with both 945 and the smartwatch it happens to stop the activity and finished without touching anything . 945 was without problem but it was by far 400+ meters more when we all stop the run. Also wrong pace wrong altitute gain etc.

I'm running v.13.00 since it came and got no issues with my watch (bought in May 2020). It can be periods when the GPS location takes longer time to get (2-3 minutes), but currently I get a GPS location under 30 seconds. It is at the same place right outside my building.

What I do to keep my watch in good shape:
I connect my watch to Garmin Express at least once a week (to update the Wandrer maps that I use as an overlay on the standard maps). I do a soft reset (holding the light button until the watch shuts down) once a week to clear memory and restart processes. Two times a year I clear the watch from all old activities by connecting it to a computer and deleting them from the file system.

I have a feeling the battery isn't as good as earlier (some is to be expected, but not much difference in a short time), but it is hard to really know when I log activities every day. Next ultra race in January will probably tell me. In June this year I got 24 hours of GPS logging without navigation and about 10 hours with active navigation and the map screen always visible.

Dear e7andy for such premium product such as 945 which was the top of the line all these settings you do periodically does not reflect of the name of Garmin. 

Do you think that is normal to behave like this? Doing resets deleting activities and lose setting of activities etc to work just as it should be must be done from everyone who owns the watch?

Nope i will try to find a second hand 945 with old firmware and sell mine because all of these erratic problems.

I always do Gps soak 3-4 minutes plus just before the workout connect the phone to sync it for A-Gps data and still got wrong Gps course distance pace.

I was running yesterday just side by side with an owner of 945 and firmware 11.60 and i got 5:20 pace he got 5;12 on same training. He does the same route every Monday-Wednesday-Friday just the same spot start and stop every time he always get 9 km sometimes 9.01-9.02 and i got 9.420 when he get 9.020 and this is huge difference.

I just said it was working flawlessly before all these updates. Istrongly insist and assure you it happens to be intentional. 

Battery is decent. Connecting Hrm Running Dynamics Pod and using bluetooth headphones from 100% goes to 91% after 50 to an hour training. 

The problem is software wise. I wish i could revent back to old firmware and there is not such way to do it and it is sad.

Yes. I believe all hardware with advanced software needs to be updated and restarted every so often to be running as good as possible. Cleaning up files is also good to do. Do you fill up the drive on your computer and fill the memory on your phone with apps and files and think that they will work as good as before? They cost a lot more than the 945. Why don't they just work without me doing any updates and restarts?

You will not lose any settings at all doing what I do. If you do a factory reset you will, but not with a soft reset. It is just a harder restart like when you hold the power button on your computer or phone to force it to shutdown.
