Back to Back Garmin Coaching

Hi,

I used a 19 week plan by Coach Greg for a Half Marathon this past weekend. I found that it gave my training structure and kept me disciplined. I was in the green every week, and mostly bordering on purple. When I started to taper down I got a stomach bug, but was feeling up for the run 2 days before. I ran it, but missed my goal time by 5 minutes.

I would like to train for another HM on 3 February 2024, but all the coaching plans require a minimum of 12 weeks.

Is there a way to do back to back plans, so that I can build on the progress I have already made in fewer weeks?

  • No, there is no such way. Every Garmin Coach plan starts as if you didn't just finish one. Frankly, I don't think this should be an obstacle to using a new Garmin Coach program.

If you want to take into account the latest news about your fitness, training data, status, etc., using the daily suggested workouts.

In fact, i used both for a while. I just finished a 5k Gamin Coach plan and wanted to start another one. I used the daily suggested workouts to replace the early workouts that were too short/easy for my liking and then followed the Coach program that has workouts like hill runs and speed repeats that DSW doesn't really offer.

If plan duration is also an issue, then you should use DSW alone. That will be cheaper than ask a coach for a customized training plan :-)
