Forerunner 945 strange situation with measuring my heart rate during a running workout

Hello.

I have a strange situation with measuring my heart rate during a running workout. I start exercising and my heart rate is measured perfectly. But after 10-15 minutes the measurement stops. There will be a pause of 15-20 minutes. After which the measurement works correctly. This doesn't happen every time. I did a reset. I can't figure out the system by which the problem is repeated. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong and what can be done. The device was purchased in November 2021.

Thank you.

  • Please tell me where I can get the files to roll back the firmware? Instead of version 13, install an earlier one. I want to try all options before repairing. Thank you.

That is a link to a public alpha v11.03 in the Beta forum. That version is a year old now but it is the only latest version with files and instructions attached. I guess you could try and use it for testing but save the current files so you can revert to v13 again!

  • I did an experiment. I ran for several days with a watch on the inside of my wrist. The pulse was counted correctly in any activity without interruption. I put the watch back on the outside of my wrist and the problem returned. but if you move the clock inward, the counting continues. I have no hair or tattoo on the outer part. What do you think could be the problem? Does the sensor wear out when it cannot calculate on rougher or thicker skin?

  • Very strange. You mentioned the product was purchased in 2021, has the issue always existed since then or only started recently? Or maybe you got it second hand and not sure of the history of the watch. The sensor hardware may have become weakened or a recent sensor software anomaly has developed.

Maybe check and monitor the HR sensor lights (green leds) with and without an activity running. Also check the SP02 sensor is working (red led).

  • Yes, the product was purchased new. The problem rarely occurred last summer, then it began to recur constantly. I can assume that I did not notice it earlier due to the fact that I was using a chest heart rate monitor. After its failure, I measured it only with a watch. All LEDs work, SPO2 measures without problems.

  • I always wear a chest monitor also so wouldn’t notice anything either.

The only other thing I can think of to check is the standard daily heart rate data captured separately from the activity data. It should highlight where you had an activity and allow you to zoom in on the graph. I wonder if it is complete, or broken data similar to the activity graph.

  • i have same issue. the heart rate seem not accurate for almost same time. what is the best method to solve this problem. thanks

  • Hello. To replace the chest heart rate monitor, I bought a cheap Thinkrider. Unfortunately Garmin showed the poor quality of their HRM-Pro chest strap. As for the watch, I moved it to the inside of my wrist and my heart rate monitor works without problems. poor quality of the sensor, which after a couple of years stops counting the pulse on the external part? I suggest you try and check this solution.
