Intra-run stat summaries

While doing a run activity, I get what appears to be a summary pop up on my watch stating 3 metrics - distance, total time & pace (If I remember correctly).  The problem is the distance is always approximately 1/2 mile off.  For instance, the first summary I get will be at mile 1-1/2, but the distance shows to be an even 2 miles.  I'll get the next summary at mile 2-1/2, but the distance shows to be an even 3 miles.  And so forth.

I wore my Apple watch along with the Garmin on my last run and verified the distances where the summaries are being shown are at the 1-1/2 mile, 2-1/2 mile, etc. points.

When I get these prompts showing the summary, I can cycle through the different watch faces and see that the distance matches what the Apple watch shows.  Also, at the end of the run, the totals are correct.  I'm just wondering what's up with these summary faces.

  • Have a look at auto lap settings under the specific activity setting .Maybe something is strange in the setup there? Not that that would account for it being 1/2 mile off as a start.I was wondering if maybe the GPS wasn't locked on at the start , but Im not sure that would account for it really.

Or maybe turn auto lap off and back on and see if it plays nice.

Maybe try a soft reset between the off and on toggle. (hold in light button until the watch powers off completely - then restart it)

Also maybe try a run with Auto Lap off and see if no screens pop up.

  • What you see in the pop up is not the distance. It is the number of laps marked.

If you press the lap button a new lap is marked. The lap distance will be reset to 0. The same thing happens if you do a workout. When the workout progress to the next step a lap is marked and the lap distance is reset to 0. That will make the auto lap distance to be off (compared to the distance you've ran).

  • That’s exactly what it was. I disabled auto lap and everything is good now. Thanks!
