Open Water Swimming - GPS map still not working

I have updated to version 12 where this was supposed to be fixed, but still showing incorrectly

  • What mode did you record that on. I don't recall an open water swim mode on the FR245? I use the RH Sports app, but it's not brilliant at GPS.

  • THis is under Forerunner 945 not the 245.  The 945 has a swim mode

  • oops, sorry - I'd looked for FR245 firmware 12. Disappointed

  • It looks like you simply don't have a GPS fix. your place is constant for almost the entire duration. I guess you need to keep your hand above water longer Wink

What do you mean by 'this was supposed to be fixed'? There is nothing in the changelog about OWS.

  • I was told by Garmin that this was fixed in v 12.  It is nothing to do with my hand above water - one day it might be OK, others (when temperature low) it is not.  Same stroke, same pace.

  • From what I can tell, unless it's in the "Other minor improvements and bug fixes" category.

Other minor improvements and bug fixes.

  • I was told by Garmin directly.  My bug report was closed.

  • Possibly they consider it "GPS ephemeris reliability improvement." More likely a miscommunication with Garmin Support. If you expected improvement, but didn't get it, I'd contact support again and reference your case number. I don't do OWS so can't comment firsthand, but I see that from threads here that GPS accuracy while swimming can be problematic.

  • Hmm. I have done a number of OWS swims, but never had this problem. You might dispute accuracy, but a reasonable track record was always there. I guess you have to contact Garmin sport again to clarify.
