GPS wrong in track mode for software 12.00

Hi there

Today my watch updated to software version 12.00 and I did a mile repeat workout in track mode. I have done lots of workouts on this track and normally the distance and pace are impressively accurate. However, today it was way off. I was doing around 4:40 and the watch said I was going 4:06 pace and had the distance wrong. Strava says I did a 3:43 mile (I definitely didn’t). Is anyone else having issues with the new update? Looking at the gps track, it looks like it stayed on the track.

  • It is a two-phase update.

First, it updates SW to 12.00 and Sensor Hub to 22.09. Estimated 2 min.

Then you plug your watch again to garmin express and it updates GPS to 6.60. Estimated 1 min.

If you don't, the GPS is still reporting the previous version with an exclamation mark, 5.50 (!).

AFAIK, every update that includes gps or sensor update should be performed as above.

  • Thanks man, I was in that situation too

  • Thanks from me too... I did the gps update via the watch. Settings - System - Auto Update. The Gps update was available lurking there to be installed...

If I'd not read this and left it, would it eventually have been detected and alerted me? Otherwise there are going to be a lot of people with this....

  • So is it fine now after fully updating? Anyone else have issues with track mode on the latest firmware? I use the mode weekly and would rather not upgrade if it's broken.
