HRM Pro and Forerunner 945 - downloading HR data corrupts .fit file - doesn't then upload to Connect

I've just bought a HRM Pro so I don't need to wear my Forerunner 945 during CrossFit workouts.

I start the activity recording wearing the watch as usual and then once I've put the watch back on I stop recording and download HR data from the strap - which all seems to work.

The activity is then viewable within my watch history.

But it doesn't then upload to Connect - and when I connect the watch to my PC and look on the watch's activity folder the .fit file isn't in the usual date and time format. 

If I try to manually upload the .fit file to Connect it tells me it's not compatible.

I'm not having this issue with activities recorded on my watch when I wear it as normal and don't download HR data afterwards - those activities upload to Connect no problem.
