Time over Heart rate alert [This forum is weird - why can't we make feature suggestions? It's all focused on hardware]

Hello

I have been training back after some health issues and I need to be able to limit my time in a zone. I can hit 175 BPM - but I can't spend more than a minute in it.

It would seem that a delay to the heart rate alert would really help here (and probably with other people who are looking to limit training intensity for various reasons eg tapering)

It would work by starting a countdown when you hit the range and then beeping if you stayed in range the whole time

(just a suggestion AND it would be good if all runners with Garmins on this forum - not just those with the exact same watch as me - could read and contribute)

  • There is a suggestion / ideas spot on Garmin's website that is where they are looking for suggestions like that, this is more of a support/user forum.  Because like you say , something like this might be helpful to others.

This situation is pretty specific and/or many ways to skin the cat, if I was doing a workout like that it would be by intervals.  I would have a specific wattage on bike or pace on a run that would be the target that would drive my HR into that zone.  once in the zone my watch would alert me 'in desired zone' then I would note time and likely ease off the gas a bit (likely HR will continue to rise at that same effort...) until a minute is over.

Or better yet have an interval programmed where I run at that hard intensity "Until Lap Press", but once it beeps in zone (174bpm) I would hit 'lap' button to start a 1min Time based Lap.  At 1min it would beep and I would reduce effort for recovery lap.

Or most likely if I didn't want to setup/program a Workout, would just set high HR alert at 175, when I hit it I would just trigger a manual lap, with my watch displaying pace, HR, total time, LAP TIME.  So it would be easy to know when 1min was over.
