Training Status 2.0, where is it Garmin?

Dear Garmin,

we would like a clear answer on your part on when Training Status 2.0 is coming to the 945 as it's clear that this update will require little to no effort since it has been release for the Fenix 6 which share the EXACT SAME HARDWARE of the 945.

Where is the Training Status 2.0 with HRV monitoring for the 945?

For the Fenix 6 it has been release in stable firmware update (https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/fenix-6-series/306162/system-software-23-00) so there is no reason not to port this to the 945.

We are not asking for Morning Report or stuff like that that is tied to the new watches (955 and Fenix 7). We just want what you already released for the same hardware, we are not class B customers.

Please just let us know if you are working on this and what timeline we can expect.

  • I doubt if garmin reads the forums. So many posts to read on many watches, edge etc. When I bought my 945 I bought it because the features it had at that moment. I’m still glad with it now all the bugs are ironed out. Adding more features may cause other bugs.

  • Garmin reads the forum (you can check it by yourself in other threads).

Of course we bought the watch for what it did at the time, but software development progress and as Garmin showed, there is no reason not to left behind top of the line watches like the Fenix 6.

More feature more bugs? This is complete nonsense.

The last thing I want to point out is that Garmin has competition, and that competition is strong and getting stronger every day.

Forgetting about its users is the worst mistake a company can do.

  • I fully agree with you in everything you have written, my 945 is almost 2 years old, has gained a lot of useful features and works much better, they are rolling out updates to 945 lte which is the previous model even if it is not distributed in all in the world (in Italy there is none), F7 -> F6 / 955 -> 945 lte. What I don't understand is because F7 is much more advanced than 955 and works much better, on maps and navigation there is no comparison from what I read, while F6 / 945 in previous years were more or less at same level, it is as if they had degraded the Forerunner series for the difference in price, it seems to me an anomalous choice but the company policy is theirs. It was my intention to upgrade to 955 but with all its bugs it will stay in the shop for a long time.

  • I was also looking at the 955, but when I see how many unsolved bugs it has and it is not known if they will be fixed, I sadly stay with the 945.

  • Why are you sad about the 945? whats wrong with it?

  • I still have the 945 under warranty (I bought them on 12/20) and it looks like there won't be any software support. There are reported bugs in the current firmware 11.60 that are not resolved. The Fénix 6 has the same hardware as the 945, and that's where the firmware gets fixed, new features added, etc. 945 is still sold for €500 and they have already given up on it.

  • serafin, Garmin supports and updates firmware for a long time as needed, (they are still releasing FR35 and 45 firmware... 55 is out, updating 245 with 255 out...).

So not sure what you mean by 'won't be any SW Support' ... the current FW has been out a whopping 22 days, wtf.

Settle down, relax and be patient.  Firmware updates have never been a very fast thing in the past, why do you think in the last 22 days it would all of a sudden change.

I do agree that their doesn't seem to be any reason that the F6 should get added features that the FR945 doesn't... however they are different price points, so I would also understand that.

  • see what was in the last update. see what the latest betas included and compare it to the latest Fénix 6 updates.

  • I bought my FR 945 02/2020 and there were MANY software updates and improvements and the newest version is out for only three weeks or so, so I don't really know what you're complaining about.

Regarding one specific issue, there was a discussion with a Garmin employee here and he even contacted me via email, so they are definitely reading this forum and work on issues. You can't expect to have your specific little requirements to be fixed over night though.

  • I am not complaining. I am asking Garmin if they could give us an answer/a timeline. It looks like they are not answering so either they don't care or they can't. We'll see in the future but I don't understand what is the problem in asking for an update that they already did on a watch that is the exact same of the 945 (except for the materials).
