Actitivies don't show on watch but only in Connect

I've had a Fenix 5S for a while, but the battery started acting weird, so I was using Strava on a phone to record data for 14 days.

After the 14 days I decided to buy a new watch, so I got myself a Forerunner 945. On my Strava account I exported the activities for those 14 days, and then I imported them to the Garmin Connect only platform. They now show on my Garmin Connect online platform as well as on Garmin Connect on my Phone.

But the activities for those 14 days do NOT show on the new watch after the initial setup - only older than the 14 days or the brand new ones just recorded with the watch.

I've tried loads of stuff including:

  1. Exporting original file (gpx) from garmin to computer and putting into /Newfiles on device
  2. Converting files from 1) and putting into /Newfiles on device
  3. Opening activities on Garmin Connect online platform and using 'Send to device'

Nothing of the above works. The 14 days are all a big black hole on my new watch.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

  • It is quite possible that because they were not recorded on a Garmin device that they will not appear in the History on the watch. Have you checked the History? You could try dropping the exported .fit files from Garmin Connect straight into the Activities folder but that might not work for the same reason. You might just have to accept the situation and move on. As long as you’ve got the data on an online platform there’s no real need to have them on the watch anyway.

  • I've checked the history, and they don't show there. I've tried to copy files direct into activities folder, but still don't show. As the watch does show e.g. 4 week total and average as well as the watchface I am using, then it's still quite annoying. But sure - it's probably at a point where I just have to accept it. Still having energy to hunt the goal - we'll see.
