I've noticed a strange issue of the altitude measurement on my FR945 (vs Edge 510). The main problem is, that at the end of the activity has FR945 significantly more climbed meters than the Edge 510 (FR945 has for example ascent/descent 1310m/1050m, Edge510 has 1000m/1000m - very accurate).
One chart says more than a thousand words:
- Green curve: FR945
- Blue curve: Edge 510
- X-axis: Elapsed time
- Y-axis: Elevation
FR945 settings:
- I have the watch on my left hand
- Firmware: 11.07
- calibrated at start of the activity
- Altimeter settings: Altimeter only
- Auto calibration: OFF
- Auto Pause: On (When Stopped)
- (the watch is already out of warranty)
Every time there is a stop for a few minutes, there is a significant drop in altitude (FR945 only), which returns to the correct value shortly after the movement continues again. Return to the correct elevation will cause extra ascending meters.
Raw data:
Edge 510:
FR945:
Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this drop in altitude (high temperature, sweat...)? If the altimeter is broken, the absolute altitude would be wrong for the entire duration of the activity, which is is not.
Of course I've tried all the tips available for cleaning the altimeter holes (warm soapy water, rinsing, blowing...).
Thanks everyone for the ideas...
UPDATE 2022-08-22:
I requested the original fit file from my friend (FR945 too) who rode part of the route with me, and the altitude record is shocking to me - it shows the exact same bug as my record!!!
