Altimeter spiking up and down

I've been noticing wild variation in my altimeter readings since the last Sensor Hub update.  It spikes up and down every few seconds.  There also seems to be some correlation to pace during activity (higher pace = higher elevation).  Is anyone else experiencing this?

I've tried various methods of soaking and cleaning the port already.

  • If you check carefully you will see that the altitude changes according to the temperature (high pace, more body heat), you can suffer them even at home stationary on the sofa or in bed by moving your arm from under or over the blankets, but Garmin claims it's a HW problem, oddly enough in many watches and all since they changed the altitude algorithms, it also happens with Fenix6

  • Yeah that makes sense, it's just weird that its only happening recently to me.  Prior to this, all my elevation charts had pretty smooth (and seemingly) accurate profiles.  Now its jagged and makes large jumps up and down.

  • I have had 2 945s and both have failed due to the altimeter. The first was 6 months out of warranty but continued to deteriorate until it failed on other watch aspects too. I replaced it but the same issue happened with the new one after a few months. Needless to say this one is being replaced under warranty. I suspect there is a manufacturing issue. Reading other threads I also experienced the difference in the buttons when pressed. Disappointed that an expensive watch fails after such a short period. I would recommend if your watch is still under warranty to get it sorted asap.
