'resume later' GPS error

I used the 'resume later' option on a long run this week - or at least tried to! I ran to the local train station, hit 'resume later' and then got the train to the start point of the main run. When I tried to restart, the watch complained that GPS was off, and I needed to select a different activity. There was no way out of this other than to save the current activity and then restart a new one.

Is this a known bug, and any known ways around it?

  • When I tried to restart, the watch complained that GPS was off, and I needed to select a different activity.

The message was basically telling you that you needed to wait until the GPS was connected again. Nothing more. Coming out of Resume Now is little different to starting an activity as normal, other than going straight to the Activity; you still have to wait for the GPS to connect.

Wait until the GPS is ready, then press Start to resume the activity.

Not really a good use of Resume Now as you will end up with a straight line from where you paused the watch to where you restarted.

  • When you use Resume later and wants to continue you press the start button once. Then you will see a data page with data fields. After a while you will see the menu. What you need to do now is to wait until you get a notice what GPS is found. After that you can select Resume by clicking the start button.

Just as philipshambrook says you will get a straight line from the end point of the first section to the start of the next section. The straight line will not be added to your distance but displayed on the map. I never never use Resume later when I move between the sections. If I have to move I always save each part as separate activities.
