Mixed Workout

I would like to plan a mixed workout with Run-HIIT-Run-HIIT-Run.

I tried to do it under "personalized" workout but it does not allow me to add a HIIT segment.

Do you have suggestions?

  • You can't create a workout with different acivity types.

What you will have to do is to create a HIIT workout with run steps. There is an exercise named "Run". Then start it with the HIIT activity profile.

You will not get any challenge credits for the Run steps. To get that you must log it as a running type. You can do that by switching activity type between run and hiit to create a multisport activity but you can't do workouts during a multisport activity (except in the first activity).

  • like e7andy said you can't do a mixed workout and get credit for them all.  So I guess its a matter of do you care about tracking the Strength part of the training with detailed activities and weight lifted?  Is there going to be a lot of running or just short bits that you can just ignore in weekly/monthly totals?

When ever I have did something like this with friends that like to take running breaks, lol, I would just record it as a run... hit the lap button when we did pushups/dips/etc... then when we started running again I would hit lap again.   Then when we were done I would record a manual Strength activity for the total time and type of activities pushups/dips/curls.    Then removed that equivalent time from the run activity.  Doing it that way captured all of the HR data, aerobic training effect, load... etc.   But also allowed me to track the strength in my totals for the week/month.

If you had a complex programmed HIIT workout with short run sections, might be better  to program the Strength workout with "run" portions... then just create a run activity after with the total miles estimated.
