Swim 547 yards

A few times over the years, including this morning, my watch told me to swim 547 yards as part of a multistep workout, instead of the 500 yards that I’d programmed.  All the other steps were fine, and I’ve double-checked the pool setting and the programming—but of course, I couldn’t program 537 yards if I wanted to!  (When I hit the wall at 550 yards, it credited me with 550 yards.) Anyone have a similar experience?

  • Hi,

547 yards is equal to 500 meters.

Maybe some misconfiguration between the watch and the Garmin Connect.

I faced an issue about it:

for some reason, the default pool size on GarminConnect mobile automatically changed EVERYTIME from 25 meters to 50 meters.

  • I’m sure you’re right about some yards/meters glitch, but both my watch and the workout in Connect were set correctly, it didn’t happen for other sets in the workout, and it only very, very rarely happens for 500 yard sets on other days.  I guess I’ll just write it off as another occasional glitch.  Maybe a neutrino  hit my watch just right ….

(I also agree it is annoying that connect always seems to default back to 50 meters.)

  • Clearly not an issue for many, but just noting I had the same problem on my most recent two swims. In all three cases, the problem happened on the second of two successive sets of 500, where the first 500 was my warm up.

  • Today I was told to swim 547 yards after a 250 set, so it isn’t just 500 followed by 500.
