Read my cardio (from my FR945) on me Edge 530 while riding my bike

Hello!

As I am training for triathlon, I use my FR to run and swim (and get my heart rate info). When I ride my bike, I use my Edge530 and therefore I do not have any heart rate information on my bike training!

As the FR945 is recording my heartrate, how could I have my cardio level / heart rate displayed on me Edge530 while biking? (And also taken into account in my bike training charge?)

Thanks in advance for your help!!

  • One way is to use heart rate broadcasting on the FR945, and the other is using the Edge as a remote display for the 945.

  • Sensors and Accessories> Wrist Heart Rate> Broadcast Heart Rate.

Note that you will have to pair the watch on your Edge as HR sensor.

Note also that the 945 HR sensor polls more frequently and is more accurate during an activity than in 24/7 mode (if you peek under the watch, you can see the sensor going from strobing to solid as you start an activity). So you may want to record (and discard at the end to avoid duplicates) an activity on your watch while riding - the Cardio activity is ideal for this, as it doesn't use GPS. Use the Broadcast During Activity option in the WHR settings above.

The Extended Display functionality would record all your data on your watch while mirroring it on your Edge screen, but as you are limited to 4 fields and graphical screens and mapping are not mirrored, you lose many of the benefits of using an advanced bike computer such as the 530. I don't use Extended Display for riding for this reason, unless it is a complicated brick session or actual triathlons.
