Automatic light bug to pole movement

With the last update 8.20, today I have contracted a problem with the automatic look at the movement of the pole during running. The light is always accessible with consequent decay of the batteria.

  • This issue was reported here many times before and it seems that Garmin does nothing about it. It looks like watch is too sensitive to movement and it was observed even in earlier firmware versions.

This is what makes me very angry about my watch. I used this feature constantly during last winter and it worked perfectly then. Now, when light is always on during running (what drains battery very fast) I decided to turn automatic backlight with arm gesture OFF. I hate when I need to press backlight button manually during run, but at least my battery is okay now.

I am very surprised that having so many people reporting this Garmin still didn't fix it. For me the best thing would be add a feature where you could define sensitivity movement strength from low to high.

  • "Fortunately" for me, it only happens with the new 8.20 update. I also disabled the function, it was very convenient.

  • I torched through 28% of my battery life on a 50min run this morning (admittedly with music playing too) because of this bug.  looks like I'll need to disable it as well.

  • Anyone noticed improvement with this with the latest update?  I just remembered it and toggled my watch back to "on" during activity (after sunset) so will test it out next time I run in the dark.

  • Yesterday I reenabled this feature and it seems that nothing has changed. Backlight is still always on regardless arm movement.

  • Sorry to hear it.

  • So I tested this morning and unfortunately no improvement.  Backlight was on every time I glanced down, sensitivity is way too high.  I burned through 15-17% of battery on a 55 minute run.
