Watch Crashed While Saving Multisport Activity 8.20

I did an indoor brick today (indoor bike, transition, treadmill).  Upon ending the workout, I viewed the summary, and when I hit save, the watch immediately crashed and went to the Garmin logo at which point the watch restarted.  When the watch was finished booting, it went back to the post-workout option screen and it allowed me to save.  However, the treadmill portion of the workout was mildly corrupted - when I go into garmin connect to edit the summary data of the treadmill portion of the workout, there is no option to adjust calories consumed, fluid consumed, or est. sweat lost.

Weird stuff.

  • There's a problem with the activity (fit file) on your Garmin. If you can attach it here we can take a look and try to fix it.

    • Connect your Garmin device to your computer with the Garmin USB cable
    • Open the drive associated with your device.
    • Look for your FIT file by date under the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder
    • Zip the file, then in a reply post Insert >> Image/video/file >> click Upload >> browse for file >> OK.
    • Or upload the fit file to a file sharing service, such as OneDriveGoogle DriveDropbox, etc., make the file public, then paste a link to the file in your post.
  • I took a quick glance. I was able to change the calories on the treadmill run using Garmin Connect Web. I didn't check the rest of the items yet. Can you send screenshots of the issues? As for the crash and why that is happening, we'll have to dig a little deeper. Meanwhile, you might want to contact Garmin Support, especially since it is reproducible.

  • The first screenshot is from the activity that crashed the watch.  The second screenshot is from a multisport activity that saved correctly.

I started using a new sensor and Connect IQ data field (CORE Body Temperature).  That is the only difference between the two activities.  Otherwise the two activities are on the same firmware version of the 945 with the same sensors connected (which are also on the same firmware versions).

    solved

  • The source of the crash seems to be the addition of using the CORE sensor.  I've done multisport activities on 8.20 with all sensors except for the CORE and have not had issues.  I've done individual activities including indoor bike, treadmill, outdoor runs with all of my sensors including the CORE and have not had any issues.  The only time I've had issues is when I add the CORE to the multisport.

FWIW, my normal stable of sensors is:

    SMO2

    HRM

    Vector3

    Trainer

    Cadence

    Tempe

    Stryd (CIQ)

    CORE (CIQ)

When I do a run, either indoors or outdoors, I use two CIQ fields and do not have issues.

I looked through the folders you mentioned but could not find any xml log files.  The log files I clicked through were Greek to me, though I did see a CIQ_LOG.BAK file in apps\LOGS, but it is from an event to the Hydration appname from last month.
