Feedback - Forerunner 945 Sensor Hub version 14.05

Hi,

This thread is specifically for the ones who are now on Sensor Hub 14.05.

As for myself, thing are getting better regarding th altimeter glitches, but where not there yet.

Sometimes (once every 4 hours or so), the watch decides I would go from 97 meters to -5684 meters in seconds and then goes back to 97 meters.

Regards.

  • How do I get this!?

Garmin Connect on the web I see -

The following items will be sent to your device when you sync.
    • Time Zone Map, Version 28.00
    • Forerunner 945 Sensor Hub, Version 14.05

+ some scheduled workout items for calendar.

BUT after doing a sync multiple times, triggered both from the mobile app or the phone, the Workouts have uploaded, but I still see the two items above declared as being 'sent to your device when you sync' Shrug‍♂️

  • A picture I took at 8am, during the night (5am ?) the watch decided to go from 79meters to 2225meters.

It seems the watch decided to recalibrate during the night and glitched.

  • Managed to force the update yesterday using Garmin Express...

Not noticed any difference with altimeter, although I've never had issues anyway.

  • The more I try to understand the more questions I have...

Here's an update : 1h30 ago, before my training I manually calibrated the watch (to put it back at 90m) and went training for 45 minutes.

During the training, the watch recalibrated and went to -1000 and after -10000+...

    Some points :

    • again, the watch decided to go cuckoo (-1000m and even -10000m ?!) (see image)
    • for the training, the altitude used is not from the GPS altitude but from the faulty altimeter (see image)
    •  bonus question : I calibrated the watch 1h30 before the picture. How come the graph is supposed to display the last 4hours, but in fact it seems it displays only the last 2 hours ?

I don't think the sensor hub update has anything to do with the altimeter.  There were a few with the F6 that were having issues with the new altimeter calibration and Garmin just released a firmware update addressing the altimeter calibration specifically.  If it's deemed the same problem exists with the 945, there will be a new FW update soon as it seems the 945 updates are a couple weeks behind the F6.

  • Yup, mine is stil doing worse than before update.

  • How are you noticing it is doing this?  I rarely look at this graph (unless i'm on vacation and want to know elevation)?  I have the new Hub and other firmware, haven't notice an issues.  I looked at settings and config was set to auto calibrate, never have done a manual.  Keep watch/phone connected all the time pretty much, it syncs regularly to update location/elevation calibration (at least how I understand it to work).  Hmm

Only time I see real weird stuff is when I go from inside to outside in really hot or especially COLD weather.  will show me going up or down a hill for the first 5-10minutes usually.   Weird it doesn't temperature compensate at least a bit with onboard sensor.

  • Usually, I wouldn't care for this information. The only thing is that it impacts the trainings. Every time you train and there's a glitch, you have an elevation report totally wrong, not to mention a huge impact when you have "3D speed" enabled : then you'll have a pace of 0 seconds per km (because the watch thinks you climbed 5000 meters in 1 second !)
