FTP and threshold heart rate

I noticed that on my 530 when it notifies me of a new FTP, it also gives me a new threshold heart rate. However, this does not happen on the 945 where the FTP alone but never the heart rate

  • Hmmm - does seem strange that would be handled differently as the 945 has pretty much all of the training features/metrics.

Personally the threshold heart rate and threshold pace for running has never worked for me, Garmin didn't have a fix seemed like a known issue.  BUT recently I had manually set threshold HR, now every time I run it gets set to 165 (manual) but on the days I don't run but I bike it goes back to my old manually set value of 168. So it does seem like the watch is somewhat dealing with threshold HR for biking... but for me not in a good way.  Probably has an old value from when I set it via the Heart Rate Zones by LTHR for a little while.  Maybe i'll give that a reset to check and see.

EDIT:  When I selected Heart Rate Zones ''by LTHR'' it autopopulated that section, it was 160 for RUN (set manually on watch) and 168 for BIKE.  So I set them to something closer to my real value (170)... will sync and then put back to my normal HR zones (by Max HR)

When resetting HR values, you should set these in Garmin Connect then sync to the watch. If you set it on the watch, it will be overwritten by the GC values at the next sync.
