Altitude wrong

Suddenly the altitude shows weird figures... 9600 meters or somethings like that.

I tried to calibrate (its the same using gps or manually) but it seems to be useless.... inmediately continie showing 9600 9560 or similar.

Dem is not available here.

Is it a kmown issue?

It remembers me the 920xt barometer failure.

Thanks

  • Hi,

good news : I'm not the only one having this issue

bad news : I'm not the only one having this issue.

Since now a couple of weeks, my 945 is going erratic and jumps from 100m (normal altitude) to -1400 meters or even 4000 meters during a training or at rest.

I now calibrate every other day (whereas i never had to do it before).

same question as : is it a known issue ?

    Thanks

  • Check whether your barometer holes are blocked, you will have to remove the bottom strap to check. Would suggest flushing with water, I used a syringe to do it, and it fixed my issue.

  • thanks. i flushed some water, air and did a run.

now the altitude is always in -500meters.(in the garmin connect report)

In the mid run i did a calibrate using gps... the altitude was ok near 25-30 meters and the watch said "calibrated".

INMEDIATELY looked at the altitude page... it was "- - - - " meters.

Back to the calibrate page, did a gps calibrate an was 25 27 meters...ok!!! calibrated again.

Went back to the altiude page...."- - - - "...again.

    So? its broken?

    thanks!

  • Hi,

thanks for the tip, I never saw those holes that needed indeed to remove the bottom strap. So far so good.

  • Hi,
Having a similar issue to this, but with jumps of a few hundred metres since the latest beta.
I also noticed that barometric pressure seems to be reading 5-7mbar lower than actual conditions (with correct altitude set).

  • I have a similar issue since beta update

  • Today tested again....

always showing the altitude screen in -8800 -8500 meters.

Tryed to calibrate by gps and the figure was 32 34 meters that is very close to the real world.

    Set ok.

went back to the altitude screen and still showin the -8800 -8700 meters. So i cant understand the "gps calibrate" funciton.

    thanks

  • The altitude my barometer shows on my FR945 consistently declines without me moving myself or my watch. Do you think this is because of 8.09 or is the barometer broken?

  • I've sent a report into the beta software developers about this issue. I've been home all day, and the altimeter has had me go from 68m to 92m in the last 4 hours while sat at my desk. Only had this issue since upgrading to 8.09 beta firmware.

  • you regularly check your altimeter while sitting at your office?  Or is it on your watch face?
