Should the RemoteSW folder be (almost) empty?

I noticed tonight when upgrading from beta 8.02 to 8.09 that my RemoteSW folder contained not just the CPE.BIN, but also a 006B232702.GCD dated 2021-08-19. That file still remains there now after the update. Should it be there or can/should it be deleted?

  • You can delete it. New updates are imported in that folder and the watch will delete it after it was executed. If the file persists, that part is already on that version or above.

CPE is the precached satelite data.

  • It could be an update for a connected sensor. As noted you can delete it but if you do have a connected sensor (HR strap etc) it is likely that it will appear again.

  • File deleted and it has not (yet) re-appeared.

But now when you mention it, some months ago Garmin Connect Web kept indicating that I had an update for my HRM Run in my download queue. It was there for several weeks even if I removed it so maybe related to that.
