Pre-loaded/pre-made Running Intervals

  • Good afternoon! I’ve been enjoying the interval workouts that I’ve created in Garmin Connect. Does anyone know where you can find pre-made interval workouts that are made by other users? I’m trying to get some ideas to make new interval workouts. Thanks
  • I'm fairly certain that there are no workouts that you can "load" to your own account, when it comes to running workouts. There are a number of pre-defined workouts - https://connect.garmin.com/modern/find-workout - but none for running. So you will have to create them yourself, but of course you can google the web for numerous examples to find inspiration and new ones.

  • It has always frustrated me that they don't have a library of good running and biking workouts (similar to trainerroad, trainingpeaks, zwift, etc to pick from!) especially if you could then set custom by HR or custom based on your current fitness/pace/PRs.  Similar to the 'Recommended Workouts' that they suggest that are based on your vo2max or FTP.!

Yeah just look at training examples online of various coaches or blogs.   I prefer time on my intervals because it hits the physiological marks you want, regardless of the skill of runner ( ie 800m speed work is a lot different for an Elite vs Jogger!)  or 4x1mi cruise intervals for someone that runs them at 6:00/mi is a lot different than someone that runs them at 10:00!  (whether due to ability or terrain)

Some kind of 'fun' (hard...) but good ones for me are over/under paces, so 30sec-90sec at ~5k-10pace... then 3-5min Half marathon / TEMPO pace... repeated 2-3x times (no recovery between).  Can slowly workup the number or the length of the fast section.  helps with lactate clearance and speed endurance.   Can also do just faster than marathon pace in the Tempo section to make it somewhat marathon specific.

otherwise just classic 4x 3min intervals (~2mi race pace) w/2-3min jog easy between , or longer threshold intervals at a fairly aggressive pace (10k to HMP) 3x8minute 3x10min 2x15min  etc
