Third-party HRM strap for Garmin F945 ?

Hi All

I am currently using the F945 and the HRM Pro strap.

However, when replacing the battery, the F945 could not connect to the HRM Pro. I deleted the HRM Pro device in F945 and reconnected but can't connect

Can the F945 connect via ANT+ with any third-party HRM straps?

In your opinion, which model should I use that can connect to F945 (excluding Garmin 's HRM strap)?

Thanks

  • Any ANT+ strap should work. Personally, I use a cheap adidas micoach chest strap, and it works perfectly.

  • Try the following, remove the battery from you‘re strap again. Leave it round about 10 mins without battery. Then put it together and try again. It should work again and will save you a lot of money

  • Question. Do you have all relevant running dynamica with the adidas mincoach strap ?

  • No. Just plain heart rate (but including HRV). Running dynamics work only with the Garmin HRM-Run, HRM-Tri and HRM-Pro. And perhaps the Wahoo Tickr X as well, but not sure about this. And that's about it. No other strap provides garmin-compatible running dynamics.

  • and therefore i prefer the Garmin stuff

  • I bought a Polar h10. It works perfectly with my FR 945. No running dynamics from the strap. But i get my running dynamics via my Stryd. I was very disappointed with my hrm run red. I’v had two of them which after a while gave way too high heartrate and was eating battery very fast.

  • I have the H10 too. I don't care about running dynamics, not useful. I'd rather have a more comfortable belt, more accurate results and more reliable device.

  • I've used both Garmin's HRM Tri and HRM pro. I noticed that the joints of the garmin strap are very easy to come apart after a period of use because the glued joints are too short. On average, I use 1 hour / day for outdoor cycling activities. After using I always wash it by hand and hang it to dry and dry, but only for almost 1 year, like the HRM Pro, only 4 months, the joints of the strap have come loose and have to be glued again. Typically, HRM Pro, after removing the battery to check (due to the bad connection), it cannot work.
HRM Pro can store heart rate without connecting to Garmin watch. So if when cycling, I don't use the watch but only use the HRM Pro, then after finishing and connecting to the watch, the heart rate data on the HRM Pro will sync with the watch? So will the heart rate data of the watch itself already available for the same time be changed?

  • Yes any HR strap that is ANT or Bluetooth can be connected.  Just depends on what type of data you would like, making sure the strap has HRV is probably the first big feature, I think at this point most have that.

As far as durability, I think with the rough life these sensors lead - failure is hit or miss and common.   I highly recommend buying a protection plan from Amazon, usually just 6-10$... and it is pretty much gauranteed you will get a free replacement out of the deal!

I personally have been pretty happy with my Garmin HRM-Dual - works well with treadmill , spin bikes, and my watch. plus customer service on HR straps from garmin have been really good.  if out of warranty then my Amazon warranty picks up the tab :-)  even when put through washer/dryer! lol :-) I train 8-15hrs a week... so my strap has a lot of chances at dieing.  New HRM-dual has better screws also if battery needs replacing.
