So Coros just released the Vertix 2 with widget glances (copied from we know who) and a test every morning HRV widget. Would be nice if Garmin published or pushed an update for a similar widget?

This is effectively what the stress widget is.
If you click through you get a graph for the "stress" for the last 4 hours or a day (can't recall). Is this not representative of what you want?
If you need the ongoing stress (processed HRV) data, then why don't you grab it frmo the connect website. For example, for today I can see a pretty graph at my https://connect.garmin.com/modern/daily…
test every morning HRV widget.
What new information will be gained from this widget that resting heart rate and stress already give?
Or is it FOMO as is so often the case?
Stress reports give a cumulative figure for the entire day. Having such a widget will allow for comparisons at a specific point of day, such as when you wake up. Currently I do not see any way to display such data on Garmin Connect.
Apart from Coros, there are numerous smartphone HRV apps, training platforms and professionals that support training using HRV. So forgive my case of FOMO for wanting such a feature on Garmin devices.

Thanks, what I would like is to have a report that compares my stress/hrv every morning when I wake up, to compare the effect my training has on hrv and readiness to train. A lot of professionals seem to be doing this with success.
Currently I will have to find the stress score using the 4 hour report you mention and input the scores into excel to get what I want. Not a deal breaker, but an HRV widget with it's own report would be much a more elegant solution.

For example, for today I can see a pretty graph at my https://connect.garmin.com/modern/daily-summary/2021-08-20/stress page. I then click the cog in the top right and download the raw data as a bunch of FIT files. I have not gone further and looked in any of them, but you should be able to if that's what you need.
The assumption here is you sync your data to garmin connect.
That worked. I uploaded one of the WELLNESS files (the largest) to https://www.fitfileviewer.com/ and I can see 108 "stress" metrics for myself so far today.
With a chest HRM you can perform a HRV Stress activity which will provide a HRV value upon completion. You may need to add that activity to your watch.

Thanks, seems like someone created an app that works with GCM for wrist based measurements, but it is outdated and does not support newer watches.
