Switch to 'Power Save' with 30-sec countdown during activity recording: how to fix this ?

Hi,

Although I've set extended mode to my activity (biking), and *even when I keep active -actually running- and recording* my activity, my Forerunner systematically switches to 'Power Save' after a while... (and even the battery is still next to full or kind of...)

Totally abnormal behaviour isn't it ?

Is there a way to fix this ??

Thanks.

  • It usually happens when you entered an activity but didn't actually started it.

  • That's only when I've seen it.

So don't know is original poster talking about that or is there some others which I haven't even seen.

  • Here is exact sequence of what I do:

press START (up-right button) of my 945 watch
    then DOWN-DOWN... (down-left b.) to activity - let's say 'Hike'
    maintain UP (center-left b.), then
    DOWN-DOWN... (down-left b.) to 'Navigation'
    START to open 'Navigation'
    DOWN-DOWN... (down-left b.) to 'Courses'
    START to open 'Courses'
DOWN-DOWN... (down-left b.) to an activity I've prepared with GPX itinerary, and copied onto my watch
    START to open it
START again on 'Do Course' to launch and start my activity...

then I start walking... and after a while I get the count-down of 30 secs with 'Power Save' showing...

If I choose another activity, says 'Bike', and choose another GPX itinerary I prepared and copied on my watch, it's the same.

I would like to *definitely* get rid of this "save" mode...

Is there a way to achieve this ?

    Thanks.

  • IF I follow your steps I don't actually see you starting the activity.  "START again on 'Do Course' to launch and start my activity..." does not actually start the activity just the course is ready to go.  You need to then actually start the activity with the Start button.  This would cause exactly what you are seeing - you are in the activity but have not actually started it so eventually the power saving mode comes up.as expected.  Do what you are doing then change data screens and I don't think you will see any time or distance being recorded.

  • Er... OK, will try to be more careful next time, and make sure I did start my activity...

    Thanks.

  • Yes, that doesn't start activity and that is the power save when activity is not started. Do Course just goes to the activity with the course loaded. So this all makes sense. It easy to add extra start button press and you will see green "play" icon.
