If you click the back button a lap is marked unless you've disabled the lap button. Laps do not affect the distance.

If the issue is something else then please post a link to the activity.

Not for using Resume later.

I don't use the lap button so I've turned it off to not accidentally mark laps.

You do it for each activity type.

For Run: Click start button, select Run, hold Up button, select Run settings, press down button until Lap Key, press start button to turn on/off.

It can't be done for Strength and yoga. Maybe some other types. I haven't tested them all.
