Don't know you have you mounted it, but maybe charging puck below 945 and then using 945's own strap to keep that in place?

At least that is my first idea.. Don't know is there any proper solutions.

With navigating the forerunner haves a batterytime of less then 8 hours and the edge 530 15+ hours. No surprise because the edge 530 haves a much larger battery. 

The screen of the 945 is large enough and the 530 have some downfalls when navigating fit file courses. 

I am using the bike mount of the 935, but maybe you are wright and I have to search my solution in this direction :-)

You are using the quick release kit, correct?

I am using the same, and have thought about trying to dissect a charging puck and adapting to the quick release cradle. The location of the charger port is pretty directly over the quarter turn tabs so not much room there to work with though. The charging pucks are cheap, so not much investment there but the quick release cradle is not.

Yes I was thinking about the same. Maybe the cradle down left on the picture with some glue etc

I have had similar issues with battery life on 70+mile rides while navigating AND streaming audio from watch to speaker!  Battery draw surpised me one time when I was only 70miles into a century and I got the warning of 'Low Battery 10% battery!'   My old 235 was pretty easy to charge on the go with the small clamp style charger.

I was thinking of the same puck charger, good cheap option 2x for 9$!!. If you click on the amz link below video I saw a review w/photo of a guy that puts charger sandwiched between wrist & watch while running and holds a small charger in his hand.  In a pinch you could do that while riding for a while put charger in jersey pocket or bag w/cord ran to wrist, once back charged sufficiently put it away in pocket or bag.  

Using in combination with the quickrelase mount would be trickier, I always just have regular strapped to my handlebar of my roadbike (edge of bar tape).  So would be easy enough for me to remove and put on wrist for an hour or two while charging. 

FYI there are many cheap Garmin stick on quick release attachment options on Amazon also that you could mount to one of the charger pucks.  I have made a phone mount by putting on a cheap phone case to put on a 'out front' garmin mount that holds my phone above and nice headlight below in gopro mount.  i used this brand.   Dymoece Universal Phone Adhesive Garmin Edge Mount

Yeah, I'm not impressed with the QR generally. I don't mind losing couple of seconds in transition when putting the watch to bike and then back to wrist using the strap. Problem is that the QR is bulky and the need is so rare that normal 24/7 use with that would be ugly.

So I'm just using this classic with bike without any permanent mount, just the watch holding itself there. But was kind of worried how would the puck hold in place, but having it in wrist would help as the skin is sticky (especially after covid shots;).
