Anyone have heart rate variability (way too high or too low) for the first mile when using a training peaks structured workout? I'm using a chest strap and have the same issue whether I use a Garmin chest strap or wahoo. Any ideas?

Frequently the cause of unstable heart rate at the start of an activity from a strap is because the strap is too dry. Try giving the strap a good soak in water (warm) before putting it on and see if that makes a difference. If you are already doing that check the battery.
