HRM update keeps popping up?

This update pops up in my update queue from time to time, why?

  • Are you removing any files from the device?

  • No. Also the watch reports the band to be on v3.40 already

edit: I use to have auto update turned off, but will now leave it on for some days to see what happends…

  • While autoupdate was enabled on the watch i did not see it, but now when there's a new firmware around the corner and I've therefore disabled updates it appears again... Very annoying, and I suspect that it also slows down my sync when activated?

  • it also slows down my sync when activated

Don't think so, I had a look at the Android logs while syncing various devices, all received a list of updates every time they synced, no matter if there were updates for them or not. Even the Fenix 2. When auto-update is on and you get a bigger update, then that will be noticeable. From what I saw updates over BLE are delta's - only differences between what's installed and what's new - so not the full ~12 Mb package, so it should not be that bad (but in my case they often stall and restart and take days to complete, so I set auto update to off).

[Disclaimer, this is a guess:] Quite often people mention that a downgrade fixes issues, and I'm beginning to think that is not always the actual older software version that fixes things, but that a downgrade is always a full install, which can fix problems that may occur when multiple delta's are installed on top of each other all the time.
