Forerunner 945 battery drain after 7. 10 (7.20 included), 8 % down during 6 hours sleep

After 7.10 update battery life of Garmin 945 decreased to 50 - 70 % (2-3 days from 4-5 before). 7.20 have not brought any improvements, still down 8 % per 6 hours of sleep and significantly more during the day. Any possibility to fix this bug? I `d rather have more days without charger than slightly nicer graph of sleep.

I tried all typical solutions (restarts, checked settings of gps, pulseOX etc.)

  • It might happen with my device last night.

I wake up with a 1% battery, and I recharge my 945 every Saturday.
I don't remember how much battery it had before going to sleep.
It's possible to check into the .fit file how much battery the device has at the end of a workout?

I was to bed approximately 2 hours after finish this activity.

  • My 945 battery does not last a full day (less then 12 hours), it started this week (Jul/2021). It”s unacceptable!!!

  • Agreed. Mine just got worse, so I got online with Garmin, and they are exchanging my watch for a new one. The update that they issued didn’t help my battery life.

  • In case you haven't already seen this thread: reduced-battery-life

FWIW It helps me a great deal to turn off the phone connection during the night. And as it started with version 7.10, reverting to an older firmware will probably help.

Garmin still has to fix this though. So do report the issue to Support.

  • My 945 started drain today, long after I’ve installed the latest firmware?!

6-10 percent over a couple of hours now, that’s why I noticed it , no workout or anything during that time. So almost empty, and I charged it a few days ago. usually it last 7-9 days, training every day.

Just venting, and following this thread.

  • And an update.

it went down to 14% last night then didn’t move for almost 24h then it turned it self off..

    This is some interesting stuff..

  • I chose to replace my Garmin 945, I hope the issue is solved with this new or replaced one. I'll comment here when it's done.

  • I really want  to avoid sending my watch away.

If it comes to that, I hope I can get one before I send mine in. Garmin in some country’s apparently do that.

My 945 has behaved since last charge.

But let’s see how it behaves when it reaches the same level as last time.

  • So still same issue with this charge.

works fine down to 40 ish % then immediately down to 11% and after an hour 0%

Then I held on 0% for an hour or two so I could charge it before it turned it self off.

Started a discussion with the customer service in Sweden, let’s see how it goes.

  • I can say that now that it's been 2 weeks since replacing my 945, the battery is still nearly as good as it was pre-7.2.   I want to say it still drains more than it should overnight, but not enough where I'm charging it every other day like I was with the previous watch.  I'm ramping up marathon training too, so more GPS use, so it's hard to get a good baseline.   :)
