Forerunner 945 and edge 830 integration

Hello all!

I have recently purchased the forerunner 945 lte and have an edge 830. I’d like to figure out exactly how to integrate the two as far as garmin metrics go. Training load, recovery time etc.

I mostly ride a mixture of indoor trainer outside road, gravel and trail. I also do weight training, and HIIT CrossFit style workouts to a lesser extent.

id like to have all this integrated with training load etc and have the suggested cycling workouts each day. I’ve read some on it but I’m not sure how to make sure it all works.

thanks for your help

  • Turn on Physio True Up for both devices. And sync regularly. It takes 3 syncs to get everything lined up.

To get a ride onto the watch:

    1. Sync the Edge to GC to get the ride onto GC.
    2. Sync GC to the watch to get the ride onto the watch.
    3. Sync the watch again to GC to get intergrated metrics back onto Garmin Connect.

(It takes 3 syncs in the other direction to get a run onto the Edge).

Also, make sure you sync before a run or ride, to ensure all devices are starting from a common point.

This should line up all Training Metrics except Intensity Minutes. To get that, you should wear the watch while riding (but you don't need to record anything on the watch - it will pick up the increase in heart rate automatically).

Unfortunately, the 830 doesn't have Suggested Workouts. However, if you want to do those, you could have the watch drive the workout, and just use the Extended Display feature to mirror that onto the Edge.

  • Make sure you sync before each ride. It is easy to forget. I always check the training load and recovery time on the Edge before each ride to make sure it is the same as on my 945.

The watch is usually always synced so you don't have to care about it. Note! If you go from a ride with the Edge directly to an activity with the 945 you must make sure that 945 is synced if you want to get the correct metrics.

  • That’s exactly what I needed thank you so much for taking the time.
