Garmin Forerunner 945 and Polar H10

Hello Everyone,

I am looking to purchase a heart rate chest strap and currently I have zoomed at the Polar H10. I do have a few questions on the data being presented in Garmin Connect :-

1) If my Garmin Forerunner 945 is paired with Polar H10, the heart rate data in Garmin Connect will be from Polar H10? As in the Polar H10 is not only used to broadcast heart rate data to my Forerunner but also integrated into Garmin Connect

2) Will the heart rate data from Polar H10 be used to calculate the Training Load, VO2Max? And by using Polar H10 will I lose out on any performance stats in Garmin Connect?

3) With the Polar H10, will I be able to use the Lactate Threshold and HRV Stress in Garmin?

Thank you very much in advance!

  • 1. Yes data will be from Polar H10. Wrist HR sensor may be enabled and used for example when you have enabled Garmin Pay, and I believe that Garmin uses it also for other features, but HR for the activity and stats will be from chest strap.

    2. You will not lose anything. But worth to mention it is that Garmin HR strap for example HRM-RUN have also Running Dynamics that is "exclusive" to Garmin HR straps.

    3. Yes. Polar H10 will work fine for all the features that require a chest strap.

  • The only downside of Polar H10 with Garmin is swimming, it wont transmit HR data after your swim completes. But you got the most reliable belt for all the other sports.

  • Thank you very much! I use an Under Armor running shoe so I get my running dynamics which is great

  • My primary activities is running, hiking and strength training so that should be fine! Thank you very much!
